This project was a personal project that I did, inspired by the current landscape of digital banking within Indonesia. In spite of the current trend of large banks creating digital banks as a sub-division of their banks, I felt that many have neglected their original Mobile and Digital banking interface, which has the potential to alienate their existing consumer base.
I chose to redesign BCA Mobile as it has many features that can be elevated through an update in its UI Design. As BCA has a wide customer base, I added some features that could make the overall User Experience of using the BCA mobile app more intuitive. I added some features that could be useful for customers that want to track their
spending within their banking app on the Overview page, accessible by tapping on the dark blue account details on the top part of the home page of the App.
My BCA Mobile design focuses more on modernising and further categorising the different aspects of BCA’s available app features, to make the overall flow of the app more fluid. This includes adding features within existing categories of the existing app, so customers who have experience using BCA Mobile before the update can have a sense of familiarity from the more ‘simplified’ version of the app. I also added some features targeted for BCA consumers that are financially conscious, so that tracking their finances using BCA Mobile would be more intuitive.
I also added a feature that I found lacking in BCA Mobile, which is the bank statement generation feature. Through my research, I found that many of BCA Mobile’s features focus in transaction. However, generating bank statements in App is limited to a very small window of time. In my research of competing banks Mobile Banking Applications, I found that they have the feature of generating bank statements that span up to three months. Thus, I added this feature as it is quite important to check bank statements for personal financial reporting. I also added an Overview page to support this feature, as adding a monthly transaction overview for consumer banking would aid in making the App more accessible for personal financial tracking.
